Your Aquatic Superpower

Costa standing on the sea floor in a business suit, hands on his mask

You, like all humans, have a mammalian diving reflex that allows you to hold your breath and explore the depths of the underwater world, just like marine mammals do. When I teach groups to tap into this reflex, there are always people who surprise themselves with 3 minute breath holds and 20-meter dives on a single breath.

This ancient practice of breath hold diving is called freediving and I learned from the best...

Our Freediving Champion

The scientifically refined safety standards

Martin Stepanek is the first human to dive past 400 feet deep on a single breath. Harvard scientists studied his physiology. He built the first freediving schools, pioneered the safety practices proven to save lives in freediving competitions and beyond. He is the living, breathing, freediving legend we trained under.

Freediving Depicted Across History

Pearl diving, spearfishing, religious ceremony

From the Ama divers of Japan to the sponge divers of ancient Greece, humans have been diving on a single breath since long before we wrote anything down. The Greek text above (180 A.D.) depicts a freediver: "...a rope at his waist, a lead weight in one hand, a knife in the other, a leap from the prow..." Your body carries the same diving reflex used throughout history.
